Dear Members of Lifelong,
As you know, Lifelong is in the midst of many, many changes. These changes can be characterized as problems or opportunities. Most I can easily see as opportunities. A few are hard to classify. What I am about to tell you is one of those.
Our board bylaws and policies require an annual performance evaluation of all staff. This includes an evaluation of our Chief Executive Officer, Diane Dawson, by the Human Resources Committee of the Board of Directors. This performance evaluation was conducted in the past two months. As a result of this process, we have come to the conclusion that our vision of Lifelong and its future will be best served through a change in leadership. There has been absolutely no malfeasance, no incompetence and no misconduct on the part of our C.E.O. However, given our differences, the board and Diane have agreed to part company effective immediately.
In her tenure here, Diane Dawson has accomplished a great deal for Lifelong. Working to stabilize a tenuous financial situation, rebuilding a Lifelong’s standing in the community, and selecting very qualified staff to organize and coordinate the many programs and services offered by Lifelong are just a few of her accomplishments. We are certainly grateful for the tremendous effort and dedication she has contributed to Lifelong over the last several years, but we are clear that it is time for a change.
We will now begin aggressively seeking a new leader to take Lifelong through the tremendous opportunities in front of us.
Brian H. Wilbur, President
Lifelong Board of Directors
