AT LIFELONG (8 sessions, $40)
Description: A continuation of the exploration of western political thought into the 20th and 21st centuries, exploring the effects of 19th century developments on the increasing ideological conflicts both within and among the emergent nation states. We will also look at the decline of enlightenment, idealism and universalism, its replacement by post-modernism, and totalitarian political philosophies – Fascism, Nazism and Bolshevism and what came after to replace them.
Instructor: Alex Delfini, recently retired from Iona College, was an Associate Professor, teaching philosophy and classic works of Western Civilization. He also taught Social Theory, Literature, and Religion in the Hudson Valley region. He recently taught this course through a grant from the NY Humanities Council. Since his undergraduate
